December 2011

Well it’s the end of the year and we have had a great year with our best ever truck show.

Planning is well underway for our next truck show in 2013.

Well done to the members that participated in this years 50th annual Mattara Parade with Keiran’s Albion carrying a local group of performers taking out the best float.

Thanks to those members that supported local community events such as the Catalina Festival, Cranky Handle Rally and Fort Scratchley etc.

Welcome to those new members that joined at our November meeting.

All the best for an enjoyable Christmas & a Happy New Year.

Thanks
Scott Fayth

June 2011

Well our recent Truck Muster has been a big success with the best ever attendance to one of our club shows.

A great effort from the truck muster sub committee for all the hard work to make the show happen.

I also need to mention the hard work from Ian & Nerida, Karl, Andrew & Peter M, Darren & Jen and the Pom.

ANZAC Day at Wangi Wangi was once again well supported by our members with historic military vehicles and several of these members supported up to four ANZAC services this year. Well done.

Our Annual General Meeting & Election of Office Bearers is due again in August, a few of the committee positions will become vacant and we will need a couple of members to fill these positions.

Also a reminder that club membership fee’s are now due.

It’s been great to see our club member’s vehicle collections grow and the restorations of our old working classics continue. Keep up the hard work.

Jan, 2011

Hello and Happy New Year,

The team at Paul Harrison Transport have been busy lately finishing Haro’s second B model Mack and it looks every bit as good as his other B model.

Haro has also recently purchased the ex Newcastle Haulage & Transport (bonneted) AEC Mammoth Major for restoration. Well done Haro and crew.

The committee has been helping Karl Coggan with his efforts to get a Shannon’s foundation insurance grant (for vehicle enthusiasts under 30 year of age.)

Also congratulations to Ron Pike for taking out an award at the Summernats in his Ford truck, well done mate.

The 3rd Truck Muster is coming fast, only a short time away now, the planning & organisation for our next show is going very well.

The Cessnock Show Parade is on Saturday 26th February, if you can assist with the clubs parade entry please contact Andrew.

November, 2010

Well the year is now getting closer to the end and I have just realised our next Truck Muster is now only six months away.

Plans for our next truck show are well under way and we hope this one will be bigger and better than our previous two shows.

It’s also been very pleasing to see the clubs membership grow over the last year.

I must mention the great efforts by our club members with their attendance to club events over the last few months.

Thanks to those members that supplied vehicles for the Catalina festival at the old RAAF airbase at Rathmines.

The three ex Newcastle Haulage AEC’s created considerable interest at the recent Road Transport Awareness Day.

We even had a few ex NHT drivers looking for a chat the AEC’s.

Andrew Marquet has recently purchased a GM powered (6x6) Oshkosh and what a rare beast it is, well done Andrew.

Other than that all I can say it keep up the good work and have a safe and enjoyable Christmas.

Many of our members have been busy attending shows around the country; our members have done the club proud with excellent attendances at the Dubbo & Alice Springs truck shows.

It's been very pleasing over the last year or so to see the morale and comradery at an all time high, examples of this are members that did not know each other traveling together to/from the recent long distance shows and members working together to get vehicles to Dubbo & Alice Springs.

Also thanks to Paul Harrison for lending the club a trailer for taking vehicles to Dubbo.

Allan Routh must get a special mention for driving the old Leyland Government bus tow truck to Dubbo at 35 mph.

The roll up to the Broke Village Fair was excellent with 23 club vehicles participating; the weather was great and some excellent displays of vehicles.

Andrew Blacklock & Andrew McGarity are working on the next stage of our club website, being the historic transport photograph section; if you have any interesting old transport photos with links to the Hunter Valley area please have a chat with one of the Andrew's.

I ask all members with vehicles on CRS permits to be diligent with the returning of the local trip forms and to keep their paperwork up to date with Glen for the clubs records.

Welcome to new members: David, Paul, John & Karl.

Regards Scott.

Hello,

The weather is starting to cool down, but many of our members are still hard at it getting ready for the Dubbo & Alice Springs Vintage Truck Shows.

Darren Peak’s White Road Commander is looking good with plenty of recent progress, including a freshly painted chassis and underbody.

Paul Harrison and crew have got the ex Newcastle Haulage & Transport AEC Mandator looking great.

Andrew Blacklock & Paul Campbell are also making steady progress with the ex Smith’s Transport AEC Monarch.

All recent club events and our May meeting have been well attended, thanks to those members for their support.

Last call for club shirts etc as I need to place our order so they will be ready before the Dubbo truck show weekend.

Work continues with the organisation for our 3rd Truck Muster, you still have time to get those projects finished before then.

A reminder that CRS local trip forms are to be returned to the club’s registrar by our next general meeting in August.

Also club membership fees are now due still $45.00

Regards to all.

Hello, February has seen some good attendances to our club events and meeting, well done to those involved.

The Mad Day at Swansea was attended by 13 club vehicles and the Cessnock Show parade was also a big success with 10 club vehicles attending.

Jake Chidgey has recently finished his C60 Chev table top and it looks great, excellent work Jake.

There is no shortage of events to attend over the next few months, for Central Coast truck show info call Dallas Fabian on 0417 285047 or www.centralcoasttruckshow.net

The usual arrangements for Steamfest are in place we can exhibit in the steam rally grounds area (between the railway line & highway, next to Maitland railway stn) anytime from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening or on the Sunday only across the road at Maitland Park as part of the Steamfest Motorfest.

Please note that the usual photo id is required for entry into the rally grounds, please forward a digital photo of those (members & family) entering the rally ground area to Peter Garnham from Steamfest on garnhamp@bigpond.com.au by Friday 2nd April. As discussed at the last meeting, the Golden Oldies Truck Club have the latest Dubbo show info online at www.goldenoldiestruckclub.com

It’s first in with the entry forms who will get priority to display in the shed this year at Dubbo, also they are taking bookings now for the Saturday night dinner.

I am in the process of putting together an order for club shirts, please let me know what you need ASAP. Peter Marquet is also prepared to place an order for club name badges.

After discussions with the railway museum we have settled on a date of the 14th & 15th of May 2011 for our 3rd vintage truck muster, further details at our next meeting.

Welcome to our new members, we also have a couple of other applications for membership that will be finalised at the next committee meeting.

Welcome to my first President’s report for the New Year.

The recent barbeque run to Col Webb’s place and club Christmas dinner were well attended and seemed to be enjoyed by all.

It was also very pleasing to see some of our newer members out with their vehicles for the recent barbeque run, well done.

Last year was a major success for the club with a great variety of club outings for our members & their families enjoyment, with the highlight and major event being our second muster which was an outstanding success.

Work is now underway for our third vintage truck muster (show) in early 2011, I hope to be able to report further on this for our February meeting.

The first stage of the website is now up and running, further improvements on the club’s website are planned for the next six months or so.

Finally congratulations to all club members, our club is now officially ten years old, the committee is in the process of organising a club dinner and weekend away to celebrate the success of club’s first decade, further details ASAP.

There are too many people to thank for the success of this club, but I would like to single out a hand full of members, without the behind the scenes efforts of Keiran Jeffriess, Andrew Blacklock, Peter Marquet and Col Webb the club would not have been the success story it is now.

It’s also reassuring to see that we have so many of our original members still with us such as Joe Fogarty, who was with the club from the very start, ten years ago.

I hope you are all well and had a safe and enjoyable Christmas. I look forward to catching up with you all very soon.

Regards
Scott Fayth.
